    About This Position

    Job Summary:

Elevate the skills of our team as a Workplace Trainer in Disability & Community Services. In this hands-on role, you will focus on on-the-job training and development for staff within our organisation, covering areas like client care, safety procedures, and best practices in service delivery. You’ll identify training needs, create learning materials, and coach staff to enhance their competencies and confidence. If you have a knack for teaching, strong experience in disability or community services, and a desire to improve service quality through staff development, this role offers a fulfilling career path in Australia’s care sector.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct onboarding training for new support workers and ongoing development workshops for existing staff (e.g., manual handling, documentation, client communication).
    • Work closely with management to identify skill gaps or training needs and develop tailored programs or coaching sessions.
    • Demonstrate best practice techniques and mentor staff one-on-one in the field, reinforcing organisational policies and NDIS standards.
    • Evaluate training effectiveness by observing staff performance and gathering feedback, updating content to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Keep detailed records of training activities, staff progress, and any required compliance training completions (such as First Aid refreshers, safeguarding training).

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Strong background in disability support or community services, with experience mentoring or supervising staff.
    • Excellent communication and instructional skills, able to break down tasks and explain concepts clearly.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles and possibly holding a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (preferred but not mandatory for internal training roles).
    • Organisational skills to manage training schedules and resources, plus proficiency in basic office or e-learning software.
    • Passionate about quality care and staff development. Relevant checks (police, NDIS Worker Screening) and a driver’s licence for visiting various service sites are required.
