Active Overnight Support Worker

Job Summary:

Are you a night owl with a caring heart? We’re looking for an Active Overnight Support Worker to provide vigilant nighttime assistance in a disability support setting. In this role, you will be awake throughout the night to support residents, handle any needs or emergencies, and carry out routine checks. Your presence will ensure clients are safe and comfortable overnight, whether in a group home or individual’s residence. This position is ideal for a responsible, observant individual who can work independently at night while still being part of a broader care team. Responsibilities:

• Stay awake and attentive during overnight shifts to respond to any support needs or emergencies immediately.
• Assist clients with any nighttime personal care needs or reassurance, maintaining a calm and soothing environment.
• Perform scheduled checks on residents’ wellbeing, security of the premises, and necessary documentation of overnight observations.
• Conduct light household or admin tasks quietly (such as cleaning or updating notes) while clients are sleeping, as directed.
• Ensure a smooth handover to morning staff, reporting any incidents, concerns, or notable events from the night.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience in overnight or 24/7 care settings (disability, aged care, or similar) is beneficial.
• Ability to remain alert and responsive during night hours, demonstrating reliable self-motivation.
• Knowledge of basic emergency procedures and the confidence to handle unexpected situations calmly.
• Compassionate and respectful approach, ensuring minimal disturbance to sleeping clients.
• Must have a current First Aid certificate, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and be willing to work regular night shifts (including weekdays and weekends).
